Summer Courses for High-School and Undergraduate Students
The AEMS Academy offers one-week summer courses for highly motivated high-school and undergraduate students with an aptitude in the sciences and mathematics. Fusion Energy has successfully completed for Summer 2026; Photonics: Lenses to Lasers is next (August 24–28, 2026).
Available Courses
Each course introduces students to a major scientific and technological field through interdisciplinary concepts, real-world applications, and exposure to current research directions.

Investigate how light is generated, controlled, measured, and applied across optics, materials science, communications, medicine, sensing, computing, and modern engineering.
Registration
Fusion applications are closed for Summer 2026. Apply for Photonics: Lenses to Lasers using the official AEMS Academy form. Accepted students can then register on Eventbrite with their unique code.
Limited-seat pricing is available for a select number of applicants. Interested applicants requiring partial financial assistance to facilitate course enrollment are invited to send an explanatory email including the rationale for the request, to aems.uoft “at” gmail.com.

Note: The AEMS Academy program, which falls under the university-wide AEMS UToronto Nuclear Cluster, operates independently of the DEEP and CREATE outreach programs.

The AEMS Academy, established through the Atomic Energy Materials & Systems nuclear research and education cluster at the University of Toronto, offers educational programs designed to inspire and prepare the next generation of engineers, scientists, and leaders in the highly multidisciplinary field of nuclear science and engineering.
